Ney

Volkan Yılmaz was born in Üskudar-Istanbul in 1975. After the primary school; he started musical instrument education branch in Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory in 1986. In the conservatory which he graduated in 1997 he learned "Ney" (reed flute) first from Fuat Tukelman and then from Salih Bilgin. In 1995 while he was a student, he began to work in TRT Istanbul Radio as Ney Artist.

He
participated several concert and CD activities with Ayangil Turkish
Music Orchestra and Chorus. He played in the concerts with Ensemble
Sarband in Germany, Austria, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Italy and
Litvania as guest artist. Volkan Yılmaz has also joined the CD work
named as "Concerto Köln and Ensemble Sarband " with his Ney which has
been publicated by Deutsche Grammophon in 2003. He played his Ney in:
CD work named "My father's work" composed by Timur Selcuk, CD work of
the film named "While Abdulhamit was ending" , the album of Mutlu Torun
named "Meetings" the album of Erkan Ogur named "Never" the album of
Yark˝n Rhythm Group named "Skin" and "Skin at Skin", 7 pieces of CD
work named "Ottoman Mosaic" which has been publicated by SONY Music.
