Bekir Ünlüataer

Voice

He was born in Üsküdar in 1976. He had to complete his primary and secondary education due to his father's job in Nevşehir. He moved to Istanbul with his family in 1990 and started high school education there. He joined to the traditional music society of Üsküdar in 1992 and took special courses as repertoire, method, theory, solfege, music literature at first from Ayhan Haksakal and the other teachers. He also took repertoire from Melehat Pars, Tanburi Sadun Aksüt and traditional music solfege, theory from Süheyla Altmısdört at the Art Centre of Müjdat Gezen in 1994. He performed in TRT Youth Chorus between 1996 and 1997. He entered the Traditional Music of Istanbul Technical University department of State Conservatory exam in 1997 and was accepted to the department of Voice Training as first winner. At the same time he was also accepted to the department of Basic Science but he prefered Voice Training. He became first at TRT's Amateur Voice Contest in Marmara region and performed as a soloist for 5 years. Bekir Ünlüataer performed a song which became first in the contest of Turkish Musical Composition organized by TRT. Bekir Ünlüataer is performing his profession at first TRT, private radios, TV and concerts.

He was performing several concerts with the ney player Kudsi Erguner in Marocco, Spain and other european countries. His repertoire is especially concentrated on period of 17 th - 19 th century Ottoman Empire. Sultan Selim III.; Hamamizade Ismail Dede Efendi, Zekai Dede and Haci Arif Bey are his favourite composers. He is one of the best interpreters of ottoman court music as one of the young generation of turkish singers. Bekir Ünlüataer is also specialised on contemporary turkish art music.
